Inventory for puzzles a tad clunky. Cryptic deciphering and math based puzzles. Dated. Nice lore and setting. Very cryptic, walkthrough mandatory. With math oriented puzzles. Some puzzles lack guidance.First section of game is escaping your pod, and figuring out what happened in it.Second mission has you do space gardening with color coded plants. Then you decipher made up alphabets and use a bullet and dash math system. As you do you end up gradually uncovering some of the knowledge of your surroundings from stone etchings and you figure out how to communicate with the moon people. This section of the game has you raise yourself in rank by being a tourist, learning about the moon people, solving more cryptic puzzles and unlocking the facility and use of more machines. The game has an odd caching of inventory items system in which hotspots generate an endless supply but of which you can only carry a limited quantity. The walk clicker interface is a bit cumbersome especially given the intensive amount of items that are required for the item based puzzles. There is also a lot of hotspots scattered around small environments, making full use of the 360 degrees view so you will sometimes have to sort of swirve your head around to look for clues and hotspots to interact with which can be jarring. The portion of the game that has dialogue is well written, but there is no indepth voice acting, the dev deciding to make the limitation a feature of the alien race and have them speak in musical notes. Clever bit of game design to save assets but still not as effective as proper constant quality voice acting.Ultimately you do not learn a whole ton about the moon people either and this is basically little more than a way to macguyver your way unto and back from the moon, in an intrepid explorer from the 1800's kind of way. Conclusion: There may be some extended play sessions here available for enjoyment but the niche of players who will have a knack for the obscure brand of puzzles this has on offer is much smaller than the niche of players who just came to see the moon, the aliens, and do a few casual puzzles on the side. As such you are better off following a step by step guide or watching someone else play for the best experience which is probably a sign that despite all its qualities and its immersion, this game is in fact not very good at being a game. The game reminded me a lot of Aura, with the kind of outlandish setting, odd pregenerated retro 3D. Maybe check it out if this intrigued you.https://store.steampowered.com/app/65500/Aura_Fate_of_the_Ages/. I came into this game not expecting much to be honest but I actually found this game's story to be somewhat interesting. It's a point and click. For the first 1h and 30min I was in a space pod/capsule figuring stuff out until I landed on the moon and there are weird things there but I don't want to spoil anything. The game keeps on having puzzles and you need to figure out what goes with what. They have made it clear nothing in this game is straightforward. It is important to have patience and to have a casual outlook on how it is. If you lack patience you won't really get far and you will be frustrated. I like the light tone narrative and the mini art cutscenes of images. 8.2/10.Buy it on a sale or something if it's dirt cheap.. Personal Rating Scale: SueTheCompany\/Disasterous\/PrettyDamnBad\/Unplayable\/Meh\/EtsOkeh\/GoodEnuf\/NicelyDone\/Brilliant\/GOTYOMGVoyage: Journey to the Moon Rating: EtsOkehPros:-Defy Physics and get launched into space via cannon.Cons:-Defy Physics. i don't know if I'm too stupid for it but even with help from an online walkthrough i didn't get out of the shell where you're trapped in at first. I would have given it a mediocre option if I could but its either a yes I would recommend or a no I wouldn't so I picked a no. I liked the voice actor, the atmosphere, the environment but thats all I liked really. No story to it apart from your 2 companions on the voyage to the moon had died but you know why and how they died at the beginning anyway. You encounter aliens and alien plants but not much in terms of story with them either. Lets talk about the puzzles they are hard I mean really hard. . Perhaps if there were clues around then that wouldn't be so bad and there are hardly any (unless there are and I missed them!) certainly requires alot of thinking. I had to go to a walkthrough many many times Im embarrassed to say. perhaps if there was a story I may have had more incentive but there wasn,t. I didnt know what was happening next and quite frankly I didn't care. overall though it was an ok game if your an avid adventurer point and click gamer. also the inventory made the game alot harder than was needed really as I had way to many items like around 50!!!. Worst Point and Click I've ever played. Renders in 800 x 600No graphical options other than brightness.Horrid voice acting. It goes on. Don't download this even if it's free.. Great game, But quite annoying to set up on WIndows 7 - Requires right-clicking the Game.exe and adjusting combatibility mode to Windows XP. For anyone interested in point-and-click adventure games I do recommend getting it though, especially because it is quite cheap with a coupon. I played this game back in 2006 I think and am very happy to see it on Steam since I lost my old copy of the game. I found the puzzles actually very fun and the entire game is put together well with 360 degree views of certain areas in a good amount of detail, especially for a game from 2005. There is only a couple timed puzzles, though dying in the them does nothing except cause a small cutscene which is easily skippable - also being able to save at any point in the game is useful. The inventory system is easy to use, though organising it can be a little tedious. Also, there is multiple ways of solving most things, and some puzzles aren't even required to do until later in the game - (You might even solve a puzzle without knowing what it's for until later!) Overall, A very good point-and-click puzzle-adventure game. For anyone who can't solve puzzles and requires a walkthough there is a couple on the internet, and I have written my own in the Steam 'Guides' page if you are interested, it also explains how to set up the game on Windows 7, and it might also work for 8. (But don't hold me against it if it doesn't...)
